Location: Cupar School
Job Purpose: Bus Driver is responsible to provide safe and efficient transportation to and from school and school-related activities, working as part of a team to contribute to the growth and development of children and youth.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Ability to safely and confidently operate a school bus
• Good working knowledge of The Highway and Transportation Act and The Traffic Safety Act
• Good working knowledge of the Saskatchewan Driver's Handbook and Saskatchewan Commercial Driver's Handbook
• Good understanding of, and ability to apply, a range of student behaviour strategies focused on positive reinforcement of desired behaviour
• Demonstrated patience, maturity and experience working with children
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Qualifications:
• Must hold and maintain a valid Saskatchewan Class 1-5 Driver's License for at least 2 years.
• Must hold a valid School Bus Endorsement
o training is available for non-licensed school bus drivers
• Clear driver's abstract, with no major infractions
o A current Driver’s Abstract from SGI detailing all (personal and commercial) driving records for the last 5 years must be submitted with your application

• Satisfactory medical examinations in accordance with The Highway Traffic Act
• First Aid Certification or be willing to obtain one at Prairie Valley School Division's expense.
Working Conditions:
• Full time bus routes are paid at daily base rate of $57.26 plus a per km rate calculated at $0.22/km
o The mileage for this route is paid at approximately 135 kms for a total of $86.96 per day
• 100% employer paid health benefits plan
• Employer matched pension plan
• Drivers with young children may take their children with them on the bus
• Subject to CUPE Agreement
• Commencing February 9, 2026 and ending June 26, 2026
• Working in varied climates and differing road conditions
• Physical ability to load and unload students in wheelchairs may be required.
